Stay and Play is a weekly group for parents/carers with young children. It’s open to anyone and free to attend. Mums and other carers from Wilstead and the surrounding area come along for their children to play while they enjoy the company over a tea or coffee.

We offer a range of toys and activities, including:

  • Baby toys, mats and mobiles
  • Role-play resources, such as dressing-up clothes and kitchen
  • Ride-ons, slide and playhouse
  • Jigsaws, garage and vehicles
  • Painting and craft activities

We also run coffee mornings once or twice a term, and an annual summer picnic.

Stay and Play meets every Wednesday in term time from 1:30–3:15pm at Wilstead Evangelical Church (see Directions).

Sunday, 9:30-10:30am

Explorers Sunday School is open to all children aged 4 and above. Our aim is to teach the principles of the Bible, especially from the life and teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, in a helpful and exciting way. We believe this gives children the best possible start, which they will remember throughout their lives.

Each week, activities include singing, quizzes, Bible stories and learning Bible verses. We also run one-off special events throughout the year, such as a bouncy castle and Christmas party. Once a year, we have a prize-giving service where the children are awarded a book to recognise their learning.

For older children aged 12 and over, we run a Bible class separately from the main Sunday school. Here we encourage the young people to look at what the Bible says for themselves, and engage with it through activities, quizzes and learning Bible verses.

Explorers runs from 9:30–10:30am every Sunday morning, at Wilstead Evangelical Church (see Directions).

Our half-term Holiday Bible Club is popular with children from Wilstead and beyond. Each year has a different exciting theme – this time it’s ‘Search & Rescue’.

Children aged 4 to 11 can attend all three mornings or just a day or two. Every part of the Holiday Club is free of charge. (See below for our Holiday Club for older children.)

The theme builds over the three days, with engaging stories (sometimes with an exciting cliff-hanger) and then a dressing up competition on Friday morning.

Every day we offer:

    • Choice of outdoor games or craft activity, plus indoor games for 4–6s
    • Snack time and Bible story
    • Fun-packed indoor programme

The outdoor games include favourites like quick cricket, Danish long ball, hockey and dragon tails – plus a tug-of-war.

The craft activity is relaxed and enjoyable, and usually relates to the theme for the week.

Younger children (age 4–6) stay in the hall to play a variety of group games and activities, such as parachute games, treasure hunt and monster feet relay.

After this, we go into our Bible story groups (grouped by age) for a snack and to hear a story from the Bible linked to our theme for the week.

Lastly, our indoor programme features stories, songs, quizzes and a memory challenge. There’s also an exciting competition each day.

Throughout the morning, children are awarded points for attending, taking part, answering questions, learning the memory challenge, etc.

We round off an unforgettable few days with a Family Knockout, 2-4pm on Saturday 21st February, with prizes awarded to all the children.

We aim to make all our games and activities inclusive and fun for everyone, and each item is run and supported by several adults experienced in working with children.

Wed 18 – Fri 20 Feb, 2-4pm

Wondering what to do in half term? If you’re in year 6 to year 9, you could be playing some great games and having plenty of laughs at Connect Holiday Bible Club.

We’ll be playing games like hockey, four square, danish long ball, rounders and human pass ball – and maybe some new ones you’ve never seen before. There’ll also be time for creative crafts and food activities, as well as quizzes, challenges and tasty refreshments.

It may be cold outside, but this year’s theme will take you somewhere hot and sunny, as we explore Holidays in Philippi. We’ll hear life-changing stories from the Bible and think about how this is relevant to our lives today.

For more information, you can contact Ross on 07825 278488.
