Explorers Sunday School is open to all children aged 4 and above. Our aim is to teach the principles of the Bible, especially from the life and teaching of the Lord Jesus Christ, in a helpful and exciting way. We believe this gives children the best possible start, which they will remember throughout their lives.
Each week, activities include singing, quizzes, Bible stories and learning Bible verses. We also run one-off special events throughout the year, such as a bouncy castle and Christmas party. Once a year, we have a prize-giving service where the children are awarded a book to recognise their learning.
For older children aged 12 and over, we run a Bible class separately from the main Sunday school. Here we encourage the young people to look at what the Bible says for themselves, and engage with it through activities, quizzes and learning Bible verses.
Explorers runs from 9:30–10:30am every Sunday morning, at Wilstead Evangelical Church (see Directions).

Coming soon: GOING FOR GOLD
October half term, Tue -Thur, 10am-12pm
At Wilstead village hall
Our Holiday Bible Club is very popular with children from Wilstead and the surrounding area and has been running in October half term for over 25 years. Each year has a different exciting theme – past themes have included Secret Agent, Search and Rescue, Joseph and Going for Gold.
Children can come for the full three days or just a day or two. It’s free to register and join in.
Each year, the theme builds throughout the week, with a serial story (watch out for exciting cliff-hangers!) and a dressing up competition on Friday morning.
Every day there is a choice of fun-packed games or creative craft activities. Then, after a quick snack, we go into our Bible story groups. Finally, we all join together for a fast-paced programme of quizzes, songs, stories, competitions, Bible memory verse and much more.
Children are awarded points throughout the week for attending, taking part, answering questions, learning the memory verse, etc.
On Saturday we round off with our family fun afternoon. The whole family can take part in the exciting games, followed by a quiz, seeing what the children have done during the week, a buffet tea and a concluding talk. All children are also awarded a book as a prize for the points they collected through the week.
The Holiday Bible Club runs every October half term, Tuesday to Thursday mornings, from 10am–12pm. All children aged 4 and above are welcome, and all our activities are free of charge.
Holiday Club for young people in years 6-9
From Tuesday to Thursday, there’s also a special group for those in years 6–9 at Wilstead Jubilee Centre (MK45 3HN) from 2–4pm. We’ll be playing giant football and other crazy outdoor games, getting creative with some fun craft activities, and cooking up a storm making cakes.
For more information on the next Holiday Bible Club, you can contact Ross on 631426.
